It all started in some early morning hours in October '87 when Scott Patchin (Red Pepper) and Tud Bowden (Colonel Wun-Doe) decided to create a personal Christmas gift for friends and family. The unique blend was based on a recipe inspired by Freddie Lott who came from a large family and his mother was a long time cook in a New Orleans restaurant. Red and the Colonel altered the proven recipe by reducing the salt and fine tuning some proportions in the other thirteen spices. As it was said in the beginning...It's just Wun-Doe-Mus®! Before Christmas of 1987 passed the traditional December 24th shopping was completed in downtown Platteville, Wisconsin. Much time had been spent on perfecting the blend, Searching for the proper containers, designing a label, which was soon to be made obsolete by the passing of Christmas. January 8th, 1988 the partnership and Wun-Doe-Mus® were started. The first 8.5 oz. bottle of Wun-Doe-Mus® was purchased in April of 1988. "How
